It currently removes the entry from fstab.
Personally I don't mind that because the case where a user would want to
unmount and remount the drive is very rare.
Expert users might just as well use the command prompt when such action
is required.

True that might be very useful for USB drives.
In such cases I would share the USB drive with the network so that the
user does not need to disconnect the USB drive.
