Oh man, its as simple as this; I missed every time during my tests. It
was only by looking at the config files that I noticed it:

# created by squeeze-web-gui-lua Fri Feb 28 09:33:09 2014
BOOTPROTO=none
DEFROUTE=yes
DEVICE=eth0
DNS1=20.108.0.4
GATEWAY0=20.108.0.4
IPADDR0=20.108.1.11
IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=yes
IPV6INIT=no
NAME=eth0
NETMASK0=255.255.0.0
NM_CONTROLLED=yes
ONBOOT=FALSE
PEERDNS=yes
PEERROUTES=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
USERCTL=yes
UUID=afef3383-ff12-4050-b8f3-d001b90966e0
ZONE=trusted

The java pages has the on boot checked by default. I believe this is the
best way; have both interface on boot enabled by default.
Let the user disable them if a particular interface is not required.
For the wireless interface this is less important since the user needs
to go in and configure the ssid and security anyway. But the Ethernet
interface should have the on boot interface checked by default since it
is like the interface that everyone will use initially.
