Thanks for the suggestions. Increasing the buffer does seem to help and improve things (i.e. less frequent clicks), but they are still there unfortunately. It seems strange to me that the wandboard would not be able to keep up with the datarate I am using (44/16).
I don't fully understand the usb-hub suggestion.
