I'm glad to hear you have a working solution for now. I must admit, I'd never given a thought to using Andoid as I tend to think of it in terms of tablets/phones with limited audio capability. I'm pretty sure you'll get better audio SQ, and a lot more, with a proper Linux install, and I believe JackOfALL has already got 24bit S/PDIF out working, as opposed to the default 16bit.
