It would help to know (a) what the target hardware is (I guess
i686/X86_64 if you are using Daphile, (b) what modifications you had in
mind and (c) if you need all of the functions of Daphile.  For example,
you do have Logitech media Server running anywhere on your network
already, or is to be a standalone system? Do wish to operate your system
without keyboard/screen/mouse? What audio hardware are using, e.g.
external DAC, soundcard etc.

Easy to use, and easy to set up are not the same thing. As you describe
yourself as a Linux ignoramus what's wrong with using Logitech Media
server for Windows with the windows version of squeezelite as the
player?
