Could it be that squeezelite is not running (maybe because of some wrong
options)?
Have you tried to log into the Pi via putty and use the "top" command -
then you should see something like :

If not, then you will need to restart squeezelite. I noticed that you
stated something about a USB-sound card. You could try with the analog
audio at first, just to make sure that this works.
