Thanks for your reply. The ssid consists of regular alphanumeric Chars only - like 'mySsid'. No Umlauts or any other special characters. The PSK currently has a ! and a $ in it. The rest consists of alphanumeric chars, again no (german) Umlauts or accents. Like "mYp5k!Is$ecrEt". Just because I am curious: If the wifi works well with picoreplayer-Setup via command-line (without reboot at least) - How could it be a PEBKAC-issue then?
