OK, every point you make above was considered. The bottom line, this product has to hit a price point. It depends on using an off-the-shelf Pi board to do it. The compute module and a custom carrier board was looked into. It would have resulted in the retail price having to be increased by £100 to do it. The second product, ticks every box of your requirements above, but it is going to have to retail at 2x - 2.5x the cost of the Pi Player.
