There is not much I can add to the picture above, until the "product" is launched next week, except to say that you are looking at it, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there is a Pi in the box, a pair of RCA jacks bolted to it and therefore, quite likely, a DAC in the box. ;) Actually, the two units pictured above, (sorry about the terrible picture and my having to obscure the laser cut into the top panel logo), were two units pulled by me today from the first production batch going into retail packaging, in order to test/QC. I'm rather hoping that Steen and Greg will PM me their postal addresses in order that I can forward them the above units when I've finished testing, in order that they might add support to piCorePlayer for this "product". Although it will ship with it's "own" OS, I would like very much for the community to embrace this player, with there being a community OS option, to run with picore rather than the "default" Pidora based OS would be the first step. This is the first of 3 "squeeze compatible" products, (or 4 if you count the "server in a box"), to launch, and although you are unlikely to hear my name mentioned, (I had to sell the rights to the design to get it as far as production), I am responsible for the design..... case, DAC, OS image..... The whole 9 yards. ;) And please, pretty please, try not to be hostile to it because it is a commercial "product". If you don't like the way it looks.... Fine. Think it sounds like crap..... Well, you're entitled to your opinion. Don't like the price.... Don't buy it. But to get this into production with proper distribution, I had no option but to work with commercial partners. But what comes around, goes around. I have an option on the second production run, to have 25% of those players produced as complete DIY kits. So there is a reason to want to support this, even if you are the hardcore DIY'er or geek. And Steen, (not that I have spoken about it to him yet), will also have the option to have a piCorePlayer "special edition", if he so desires. (Two tone, shocking pink and luminous lime green colour scheme, maybe? ;)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JackOfAll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3069 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97803 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
