A general Ubuntu issue. Do you use/have internet IPv6 ? If not, in Ubuntu IPv6 is on by default and IPv6 DNS lookups can cause delays - this shouldn't be affecting LMS but perhaps there is a somehting doing a DNS lookup and delaying LMS.
