Greg thanks for your encouragement, On Windows PC's WOL is a feature of BIOS/UEFI and the network card (driver). On modern PC's (especially those sold on the European market) there is a green option in the BIOS which, when turned on, lowers power consumption when off but disables WOL. MACs should also be able to accept WOL magic packets according to Google. Raspberry Pi's do not have a WOL function as far as I know. No need to turn of the Pi as the idle power consumption is pretty low. See https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=39714 On my Intel NUC LMS server I use the Server Power Control plugin to schedule shutdown of the LMS server if no music has been played for the last hour and turn off all connected players. Saves a few Euros per year. A dedicated WOL option on the tweaks page would be nice. This could be automated if you know the IP address of the LMS server (the arp command can be used to lookup the MAC address of the server). The network interface used should also be detectable I think. My knowledge of Linux is rather limited (Google is my best friend) so I am not sure if the above works. Another option would be a dropdown list for the network interfaces and a textbox for the MAC address. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kolossos4730's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63988 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97803 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
