You are correct about Ubuntu - wouldn't connect at first till I found an
existing issue with the drivers, followed instructions to replace with
updated drivers - then connected straight away but with the speed
issue.

Unfortunately I gave no other wifi dongles to compare - have had 2
others with Rpi-B/picoerplayer but they have gone to friends.
