Oh a couple of more comments. I successfully "flashed" the PiCorePlayer .img to my SD card on a Mac using a series of Terminal commands. But later when I wanted to experiment with Volumio, for some reason the "flash" process just wouldn't work. I then discovered the amazing GUI front-end program called ApplePi-Baker. It worked perfectly and made the process of flashing an SD card (on a Mac) so much easier.
