Yep. I discussed this with Triode a long time ago. Several reasons. 1. Full RAM conversion 2. Full RAM playback 3. Close to no network traffic during playback 4. Very low and HDD friendly (bulk copy of data) HDD access on server 5. Much lower overall load conditions 6. Less hazzle with PI2 shared USB/Ethernet 7. ... My Arch installation occupies around 40MB RAM incl. GPU (16MB) on my PI2. The rest (960MB) I can use for buffering purposes. Why not using it. Now with the resampling in place I should increase the output buffer to 500MB or more. ;) Main issue with this is a mixup of track counters/track management. Since more than one track fits into the streaming buffer, LMS thinks the next track will be the next track after the next track. If you e.g. run "Play Next" That song will be played "Next after Next". ::: ' Touch Toolbox and more' (http://soundcheck-audio.blogspot.com) ::: by soundcheck ------------------------------------------------------------------------ soundcheck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34383 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
