Soundcheck.... I am not piggy-backing on Triodes stuff! I am not trying
to commercialise squeezelite! I am not pushing a product!

Your two sentences above have led to a private conversation, which has
resulted in me asking a question, which is really what it all boils down
to. I am going to ask you the same question.

Let's suppose I personally would like some functionality added to
squeezelite for my own use. Let's suppose that has been done. Let's
suppose that the functionality could be useful to others. Parts of the
code for that functionality cannot be released under GPL! Which would
you prefer? a) That the functionality was never released to be used by
others and kept solely for my own private usage, or b) a way was found
to make it compatible with being used with other code that is GPL'd, so
that the very specific "new" functionality was available in binary only
form, free of charge, and totally up to an end user, whether they use it
or not?

Fact! Neither the HDCD decode, nor the PCMtoDSD functionality can be
released under the GPL, or under any license which is compatible with
the GPL, to have it compiled into a single re-distributable "player"
binary along with squeezelite code. You should not assume that because
someone wants to release code, with some (but not all) code under a
non-GPL license and binary only, it is being done for commercialisation
or financial gain. In case I didn't already make this clear.... *All
squeezelite code, or derived from squeezelite code would never be
released under any license other than the GPL, with source available.*

Rather than consider I might want to use your time (and others) as
testers for my own gain, you might want to consider other possibilities
and not speculate about how I might be trying to commercialise
squeezelite and piggy-back on the work of others.
