So, I tried the inplace update and that failed due to not enough disk space - so a quick reformat of the SD card, load 1.21a and configure everything and play music. Then upgraded to 1.21g - first off the screen was upside down so the Tweak to fix that was applied and reboot, then JiveLite was enabled and reboot. The Now Playing screen doesn't appear, just all the linux messages, last few lines - Finished piCorePlayer setup Starting Jivelite... Done. crond[935]: time disparity of 24105549 minutes detected. Music plays, but no display.
