I had a similar problem, official display, pi2 with IQAudio Digiamp+ everything powered via the DigiAmp. Makes a great Boom replacement. But would sometimes crash when the backlight turned off. Although it came back on OK, I was suspicious that a spike on the 5V was causing the problem. Changing to a seperate supply for the display cured it.
