I note that HifiBerry haven't published instructions yet on powering the analog side separately (apart from showing the removal of the '0v resistor'), but they did say the following which I didn't understand: -'Shared ground between Raspberry Pi ground and a seperate power supply for the analog part is necessary, otherwise it won't work.
