I've said it before and I'll say it again, stay the hell away from the
RPi (any RPi model) if you are serious about audio and want to use a SBC
as a HDMI or USB digital audio transport. Dropped USB frames !=
bit-perfect. Any it is simply guessing, what is hidden behind the ALSA
shim (in the closed source firmware) for HDMI audio output, including
re-sampling. The Pi's excel as an I2S transport. And last time I looked
at HDMI spec anyway, (which admittedly was some time back), 24 bit was
the max bit depth, 192kHz the max sample rate, for HDMI audio.
