If these guys submit their driver code via a pull request to RPi github
and it is accepted, then piCore will support it at some point, "out of
the box", as will the other distros, without applying 3rd party patches.
The WM8804 (Digi) as been supported for some time, so really the only
thing they are really adding, (on the software side of things), is the
clock selection, I suspect by toggling a GPIO low/high..
