I meant to add before that this increases the priority of all the
interrupt processing on your system, not just audio. Increases it to the
point where other threads may not actually be able to get CPU at all.
Small risk, but a risk of solid kernel livelocks in the event of e.g. a
network broadcast storm or some device going nuts.

I wouldn't do this, in general.
