Looks like Jeff and I (EDIT: and Michael) were saying the same thing. :) If you are going to use Xcopy then consider using robocopy instead.

Format of the drives will make a difference ie. ext3 ext4 ntfs 2. Transfer protocol will make a difference ie. scp ftp sftp 3. Take note of file ownership and file protections. 4. Take note of time or date stamps, important for sync 5.
