I owe you an apology for wasting your time; It seems that the information on the Goodix touch controller was incorrect. It now appears that the Waveshare HDMI driven screens try and imitate the standard RPi displays, hence no need to install a driver, which is why I had to nothing more than set the resolution. Almost by accident, I found that if I unplug and re-plug the USB connector on the display, the touch facility works. Any ideas on this?
