Yes, it makes sense to minimise the writes to the flash I think. I'm hoping, unless someone points out the flaw in my interpretation, that the Joggler version of Ubuntu achieves the same result. From 'this wiki page' (https://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/Ubuntu_Internal_emmc): > It will run a read-only root fs with a volatile rw-system overlaid > allowing most apps to function normally whilst preventing ware on the > flash memory and allowing the system to be powered off at any time > without risk of filesystem corruption. So for me personally the Ubuntu route seems a lot more straightfoward (given my abject failure to get anything to boot into TinyCore or Alpine), since the available build is already configured/patched to deal with the specific hardware on the Joggler (emmc, screen brightness adjustment etc). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110040 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
