Assuming you are using the Dac+ card, here is your part of the card
config.

Code:
--------------------

  CARD="IQaudIODAC"
  OUTPUT="hw:CARD=IQaudIODAC"
  ALSA_PARAMS="80:4::1"
  SSET="Digital"
  GENERIC_CARD="TI51XX"

--------------------

The SSET means the card does have hardware volume control.
LMS/Squeezelite can do software or hardware volume control.
Shairport-sync can only do hardware volume control. By default
squeezelite is using software volume. If you go to the squeezelite
page, you can set it to use the hardware volume control, which will then
let the volume control increase the volume that was turned down when
using shairport. If you use LMS and Shairport capabilities, I have
always recommended using Phillips_44's Shairport Plugin to LMS.
