Sorry for the delayed followup, needed to spend quality weekend time with it... Hardware volume control, specifically the string -Digital-, works. I also discovered that shairport *only* works for devices that don't have spaces in their names. It worked for my -office- system, but not -dining room- or -living room-. All of the other Squeeze/LMS bits were working fine and I'd relaxed my Unix-centric cringe at putting spaces in names just to make them "prettier". I fixed it by renaming the players to e.g. -dining-room- (which matches the hostname I assigned to the pi). I suspect that the code that assembles the command line that runs could also be more defensive about quoting parameters, e.g. --a "dining room"-, but it might not be worth the complications. Thank you for the patient explanation and all the work! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ hartzell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=54772 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
