Paul, I did SSH into the player and followed your suggestions. No change in output volume; it is still low.
As such, I currently have the DAC2HD card on a RPi 3B+ with the HFB OS and have that synced to the PCP player (with the screen) so that combo plays correctly and also provides the display of what's playing that I want.
