pCP patches the Dac pcm512x codec drivers to allow 384k.  There are many
pcm512x cards that work at 384k, Although it may not work for all
boards.  As a test setup squeezelite to upsample everything to 24/192. 
If that solves the problems. It at least confirms it’s the
Dac/driver........and then you may have to pick up everything or
downsampling the 24/192.

As for Dac drivers, it’s possible behavior needs to change with
newer kernels.  Vendors are more worried about developing new hardware,
rather than maintaining old.  There are some poorly written drivers.
