The USBridge Sig is really just a RPI3 with a custom motherboard.  Which
means the USB/ethernet chipset is different that the RPI boards.  It
also does not have an internal sound device, so you must add something.

With the Digione Signature, you need to make sure you are powering the
board properly, Since the output is digital, there is not much to be
done to change the audio stream.  Are you sure your downstream DAC is
not causing the crackling....or any of the cabling.  I don't have the
digione sig, but I do have a plain digione, and the USBridge sig I can
put together if needed.

As for USB, that is completely standalone.   (You can select USB from
the dropdown box, but it's not completely necessesary)  When you plug in
your USB DAC, look at the squeezelite page.....expand the Output setting
field,and see what cards are detected.
