There are many things that cause crackling, but more likely in your
cable arrangement.   Youy need 2 power supplies with this board, one for
the RPI, and one for the card.  Check all of your cables and
connections.  The Shanti is not needed for for most ears, but you do
need good quality power.  Too many use underpowered supplies and poor
quality cables that lead to problems.

If your USB device is not listed, then it is not detected, how have you
connected it?  Again, power connections are key, some USB DACs need
external power supplies.32432
