Have you tried the latest XPostFacto with different throttle options? I have a 9G IBM Ultrastar @ the internal SCSI. XPostFacto 2.11 failed to install Mac OS X 10.1 on it because the screen stayed black after the 8600/200 XLR8 G4 450 tried to boot into the installer CD. (I only waited less than a minute before I force-rebooted, maybe I was just too impatient?).
Anyway, XPostFacto 2.2b14 worked OK with this problematic drive with XPostFacto's default settings. My 18 G Ultrastar, 2G Seagate and 75G Deskstar worked OK with older versions of XPostFacto. BTW, I would switch entirely to X in my 8600 but I have to occasionally boot into 9.1 to print to my old LocalTalk DeskWriter and to use the 8600's analog video connectors. I also use iMovie via 9.1 although it also seems to work in X. At work I can print OK from a 8600 running X to our 5M and 4100N LaserJets via ethernet so I have planned to get a HP LaserJet 2200 for myself. Is printing via ethernet more reliable than printing via an add-on USB PCI card in Mac OS 9.1/X? Printing speed is a minor issue and I'd rather not get an ethernet hub/switch because of the added clutter behind my desk. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
