Well if anyone was following this thread... The fix to my surprise
was....going back to XPF beta 15 and doing a full new install. Beta
16 screwed up my settings somehow. Ryan can't figure this out 'yet"
beta 16 is a fix for machines having problems with b15 and I like a
fool even though things were good had to upgrade! Just for the record
my J700/S900 Umax clone seems to be in the minority in liking b15
over 16 with Jaguar. I can't even do an install with beta 16 it fails
every time! Strange how different machines are so different.
So the good news is I'm back in business with Jaguar and now
that I'm using the Powerlogix software I've got speed way better then
v10.1.5
With the motherboard cache turned off and spec processing turned on
which I can't do in OS 9.x machine (crashes from time to time) My
XLR8 cpu running at 550 mhz with backside cache at 275mhz .It does
550mhz with 219 backside cache with spec processing off in OS 9.x
with OS 10.1.5 it runs ok but I'm aware I'm running it with my old
SCSI 50 pin drive. Jaguar I can now say seems nearly as fast as OS
9.x on the much faster IDE drive! i can't wait until I move to that
drive! Later Will S
