Similarly here. Recommendation: format it and put your paging file on it. Use a utility such as SwapCop, which makes it very easy. Keeping virtual memory in a dedicated partition improves performance; firstly, the OS doesn't have to search through the filesystem to find the file, which makes things very slightly quicker (though a disk cache largely nullifies this); secondly, if the partition is dedicated - i.e., there's nothing else on it - it will prevent fragmentation of the swapfile (and, indeed, of the volume it's on.) Finally, if said dedicate volume is on a dedicated drive, preferably on a dedicated controller, the OS can overlap VM disk I/O with file operations. -- Liam Proven http://welcome.to/liamsweb -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
