Which model, and what driver are you using? Epsons or Gimp-print? I'm not having problems with my $10 yard-sale lexmark printer <gloat> but we have seen some odd behavior on a couple of systems at work with Epson printers. I've also had problems with an HP printer, traceable to a clash between the OSX and Classic driver...if you printed from Classic, it would no longer print in OS X until you shut down the Classic environment. (I have a suspicion that this is the root of the problems we had with the Epson, too, but the user couldn't remember.) > -- Wherever you go, there you are.
