That was the idea, yes, but tho' I personally doubt the difference would be measurable, I have seen claims of a noticeable improvement putting VM on a different partition on the same physical drive. Perhaps it's just the placebo effect... > One other possible benefit of a separate swap partition on the same disk > would be if the swap volume does not have journalling turned on, but the > boot volume does. For mine, I used UFS, on the tentative basis that it's been NextStep's native filesystem since the 1980s and should be pretty optimised by now, whereas HFS/HFS+ support is new since Rhapsody days and HFS(+) was never meant as a Unix filesystem. This may be a load of dingo's kidneys as far as any performance improvement goes, of course. -- Liam Proven http://welcome.to/liamsweb -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
