HFS+ does support permission attributes and other UNIX-isms. The only specific UNIX-ism it doesn't support is that it doesn't respect case in file and directory names as other UNIX filesystems do. >This may be a load of dingo's kidneys as far as any >performance improvement goes, of course. If the UFS suport is based on NextStep code, it was designed for 680x0 processors, not PowerPC ;) Code from the 1980's is as likely to be "crufty" as "well optimized". We don't really know either way until someone takes the time to "benchmark" the speed of each filesystem.
