Oh, yes, I'm aware of this - or else OS X wouldn't work at all!

Doesn't impact the efficiency of the FS itself, though.

The UFS has had a lot of effort and refinement pointed at it over the 
years; focussing on the OS drivers may be missing the point somewhat.

But maybe we just need to Ask Slashdot or something for someone to DO some 
benchmarks...
