OSX *can* run at 640x480, but you are not able to install with anything below 800x600. The continue buttons on the installer screens are not accessible at anything lower.
Goto the XPostFacto page and read the instructions there, then read them again. After you have done that, read them one more time, print them out and read them on real paper. Trust me on this one, you'll miss something if you just read it once. Speed shouldn't be an issue, it absolutely flies on my S900 w/ XLR8 G3 200MHz. Although you are good if not using Classic, get another 128MB RAM, you'll be glad you did. If you are comfortable, try to get the speed of the system bus up a notch or two, it can make all the difference in the world, especially if you have an unsupported video card. As for the freezing problem, try using the throttle feature of XPF to slow down the processor during boot time. Read up on this feature if you don't know what it does, it tends to solve *a lot* of startup problems on machines with G3/G4 upgrade cards. -Robyn On Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at 09:51 AM, Rik Gresham wrote: > As far as I know OSX in any variety _requires_ 832*624 ,and won't run > with 640 by 480 at all.
