Where did you get the DVD Player app from? Even though I have an actual Apple DVD ROM drive, Jaguar never installs the app. I can't find anything on Apple's web site higher than 3.1.1.
Go to macupdate.com and search for an app called "Pacifist". In a nutshell, it is the OS X equivilant to "Tome Viewer" in OS 9.
You just insert your Jaguar CD (cd 1), open Pacifist, guide it to the "Essentials.pkg" file on the CD (Which I believe is found in the path System->Installations on the CD, but there could be more to it than that, I forget, and I'm at work at the moment). From there, just highlight the pkg file mentioned, and click the "install" button.
