It seems pretty solid, and it pretty much says that the only hardware
acceleration happens if you have a QE-capable video card. And... the
Rage 128 isn't one.

QE isn't the only hardware acceleration for OS X. OS 10.0 and 10.1 (and 10.2 as well) had hardware video acceleration built-in for all supported graphic cards (PCI Rage128 & Radeons, all AGP cards), but only the 32MB AGP cards get an *additional* boost from 10.2's QE. The older cards still have good video hardware acceleration, just not QE.
