The system bus *speed* is set by the CPU card, up to the limit of the
motherboard hardware. The *Bandwidth* in MB/s is (S * W) / 8.

I just wanted to throw in that the bus speed is also limited by the CPU card. I've seen a number of CPU cards that were limited to (e.g.) 48 MHz or 54 MHz, even though they had adjustments for higher speeds. They were in machines with motherboards that would do 61 or 62 MHz, but the CPU card just couldn't go tolerate faster bus speeds.
