Not entirely true. Regarding Quartz Extreme - video performance isn't 
crappy, it just isn't. If you do something that would normally include 
a Quartz Extreme effect, the effect just doesn't happen.

With hardware acceleration it depends on the instance. Is QuickTime 
hardware accelerated on my Pismo? yes. Is Quake 3? yes. Is everything 
else? No.
