I need to add a hard drive for storage and backup but haven't a clue what would be the best for my setup. I have one PCI slot open (Tango FW/USB in one and Rage 128 in the other). My internal drive bays have the stock 1 Gig and a 10 Gig I put in. Would you recommend internal, external, FW, SCSI, ATA? I also would like to get a CD burner to use with iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks, Gene

I would strongly recommend against getting 80 to 50 pin adapted internal SCSI drives. I got a couple of those and I had a great deal of trouble with them. Driver problems, settings problems, etc.

I've also had a couple of external FW hard drives. I found those worked fine in OS X, but I had trouble with them freezing up in OS 9.1 despite experimenting with both Powerlogix and Ratoc FW cards.

In the end I got a Sonnet Tempo ATA card with a hard drive mounted on the card. I wish I had gotten it in the first place. I had some difficulty getting OS X installed on it, but since then it's been great. The card was not cheap, but compared to the time I spent on the SCSI drives, it was a deal.
