 Ok.

The Classic I refer to is the Classic which ". . . is an environment for
running Mac OS9 applications. It starts automatically when a Classic
application is launced, or it can be started here."

When I try to start "Classic" from the Classic System Preference, I gets
just so far along, then seizes up (or seems to).

In the process it asks me which system folder I wish to use.

I have roughly the same mix of extensions and Control panels on two,
operating from the suggestion I read on this list, to have a low-impact,
simple "Classic" system folder.

But even when I go to 9.2 Base on the most simple system, it won't fully
start up. Of course, I have been trying to keep the XLR8 extension and CP
is use.

Based on your suggestions, I will continue my explorations - while I await
additional excellent input.
