Archive and Install

I'm currently running OS X 10.2.8 but am having some problems that I 
think are due to corrupted system files.   I don't think it is a 
hardware problem, and am down to trying to re-install OS X.  My 
question is can I do an Archive and Install and boot on my PM9600 or 
will I have to install everything from scratch?
