Speaking of USB modems and tiger, Apple just released one:
<http://www.apple.com/imac/> Down near the bottom. It only appears
available as a $49 add-on to an iMac right now, but I suspect
they'll start selling it as a separate item soon.
Wasn't aware anyone was speaking of USB modems, but I do have a question:
If there is already a modem built in (AFAIK, all iMacs do), why
would someone want an external one?
My G4/533 doesn't have a built-in modem. If it works in any Mac via
USB and I was still using dialup, it'd be a nice option.
Well, I started this thread last week, and while there was one response
at the time, with a link to some Global Village modem scripts, I never
could get a Global Village USB modem to work with my B&W in Tiger. I
could never find USB as an option for a modem when setting up using
"Preferences". (I, too, am leary of using the internal modem.) Is the
option part of the Tiger install for iMacs? I have those install
disks. Do I need to use a utility like Pacifist to extract the required
files to have Tiger recognize a USB modem? Where would they be? I AM
able to get it to work in 9.2.2.
Thanks for any suggestions.
