If you're having instability and it's not growing, it could be that there's a problem keeping it from growing. Note that the amount of VM that tools like activity monitor show includes VM that's not backed up on swap because it's unmodified mapped pages from files, like any actual executable code in applications or libraries. > I don't do image or video editing or any of that kind of thing that's > really heavily RAM-intensive - the most I do is lots and lots of tabs > in Firefox and sometimes many large images. Any web browser is, but Firefox seems particularly hoggy. I've seen it use 800 or 900k of *real* virtual memory (if that term's not an oxymoron) when I've had flash or java in hidden tabs. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:UnsupportedOSX@mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
