Do you know of anyone that has used AI, with BI? I would really like to see some research in the area.
Sorry Justin, I don't have any more info off the top of my head than has
been mentioned. I haven't done AI for over 15 years.

As to using AI to effect Design: Bob Lutz (of auto fame) wrote about
design in the auto business. He wrote about the "semi-tractor" design
that was (and is still) used for the Dodge Ram pickups. Lots of people
hated it, and about 20% of truck buyers loved it. The lovers bought the
truck, the haters weren't going to buy Dodge anyway. The design doubled
Dodge truck sales, but if Dodge had used standard focus groups, they
would not have increased sales. (Mr. Lutz said they would have had a
truck that nobody hated, but nobody would have become passionate about.)

Design (especially user interface design) needs to cater to and convert the
real user/customer, not the "looker". Blind AI can miss that differentiation.

One of the things that web BI is trying to reduce is the number of shoppers
who drop shopping carts just before order confirmation. Work is done on
making the page easier to understand, changing colors, adding text, etc.,
while the real problem is that shopper has to wade through the whole
process just to find out what shipping and taxes are and when the items
might be shipped (or might be delivered). AI can't add in what the designer
left out.

That said, I believe that the right data given to the right person can provide
the insights necessary to make a business successful.

(So yes, I believe that AI and BI carefully used can make a difference.)
