Hello everyone,

Few days ago I have decided to start up a brand new uPortal installation based on the new 2.6.1 GA for experimenting with new features and I had some trouble - the layout woudn't render due to errors related to xalan.

It seemed as if the wrong version was used. Since I didn't have another version in my install, it had to be something included with the JDK/JRE.

So it turned out that I have to have a copy of xalan.jar and serializer.jar in both TOMCAT/common/endorsed and also in JRE/lib/ext.

I don't know why that happens now, and it didn't happen before, but I think it should be documented in the README - and now it is not.

-- system setup
This is on a Fedora 8 that had a full install.
Because I was not satisfied with the IcedTea java version 1.7, and the older Gcj 1.5, I removed them all and all related packages and installed Sun's JDK
Java: version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode)
Tomcat: 6.0.14
uPortal: uPortal_rel-2-6-1-GA
