Thanks Mark, The UI will be changing before RC2 so don't worry about those issues.
As for the error, can you check in the portal.log for a stack after that happens and create a Jira issue with the entire stack trace and set the affects version to 3.0.0-M5. There is info in the quickstart readme on where to find portal.log and how to report jira issues.
